NWCC June Updates!
Dear NWCC Families,
We are officially in June—rain or shine! It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the final month of the 2024–25 season. Final NWCC Meeting – Last Day of the Season
Date: Saturday, June 14We will celebrate the end of the year and share the total number of service hours earned by our students. It will be a meaningful and joyful wrap-up to a wonderful season!
Important Update: President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA)
As an officially certified organization under both state and federal standards, NWCC has proudly conferred the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to our students.
However, due to a recent decision by AmeriCorps, the PVSA program has been temporarily suspended as of May 27, 2025. At this time, all award issuance—including certificates and medals—has been halted nationwide for all certified organizations.More details: https://presidentialserviceawards.gov
This is part of a broader federal review of educational and volunteer service programs. There is currently no official timeline for when or how the PVSA will resume, though AmeriCorps will notify organizations directly if reinstated.
In the meantime, we’ve prepared meaningful alternatives to ensure our students’ service continues to be recognized:
NWCC Volunteer Service CertificateWe will issue an official certificate with total hours, service details, and dates. This can support college applications, school records, and scholarship portfolios.
Possibility of Retroactive PVSA RecognitionIn the past, PVSA has accepted retroactive applications for up to 12–24 months. We will help families keep accurate service records so we can apply promptly if the program resumes.
Continue Serving with Passion and PurposeThough a federal award is currently unavailable, we encourage our students to continue serving the community joyfully. Let’s uphold our goodwill and passion to contribute through music, knowing that true service makes a lasting impact and builds the leaders of tomorrow.
If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you again for your trust, your support, and your partnership throughout this meaningful season.
With warmest regards,
Jeongwon Hyun
